listen to winter makaru mixtape
issue 96 ♡ soundtrack for low-lit days & high-sensitivity hearts

dearest woo-tang clan
i recently discovered the short-lived british band sunhouse who broke up a year after producing their debut album in the nineties. i heard about them on the desert island discs podcast with retail creative guru mary portas where they ask the ‘castaway’ guest the question— what eight records would you take with you?
many moons ago i met mary briefly while working as visual merchandiser for the australian high street chain sportsgirl when she was the head of yellow door retail consultancy and had flown down to australia to design the window display for the pit street mall opening in melbourne— and i was awestruck by her creative prowess.
in the podcast, she speaks about growing up with grief after her parents both passed away in her tender teens. the sunhouse (1998) album was recommended by a plumber who worked on her house through a renovation and the record is one of the eight she would take to a desert island. a few of these songs are on this kawa heart winter 2025 mixtape.

Thank you Dee. I enjoyed the Sunhouse song. A wonder...a song whose words could be heard and understood. (did I just show my age?)❤️
